Collections: Swimwear
Sadly, it is the nature of All swimwear to deteriorate over time due to the chemicals used in swimming pools. However, ensuring that you take care of your swimwear will certainly prolong their life and effectiveness.
Care for your swimwear in summary
For those of you who like the details, read on!
Rinsing your Swim Wear
Always rinse your swim wear thoroughly with cold water after swimming. The chemicals in pool water (i.e. chlorine), salt water, sand and suntan lotion will cause the fabric to become brittle or faded and can shorten the life of your swimwear. Even if you don’t have time to wash it properly, a good rinse will still help reduce the effects.
Drying
Allow your swim wear to dry naturally. When drying outside, do not hang in direct sunlight and its best to turn your swimwear inside out. Do not dry your swimwear in a dryer or in direct sunlight because they are both hard on the swimwear fabric. The sun will cause your swimmers to fade quicker than expected. Both will cause the breakdown of elasticity. costume.
Storage
Do not pack or store your swimwear when wet. Keep in mind also that your towel has soaked up the chemicals from your swim and will continue to expose the swimwear to their harsh effects if you wrap them up together. Moisture, darkness and heat can cause bacteria to breed and this will eat away at the fabric.
Washing
Wash your swim wear by hand when possible, with mild soap and tap water. Water alone will not remove the chlorine or salt water. We recommend turning your swim wear inside out when you wash it to avoid damaging the delicate outer layer.
If you do machine wash, refrain from using a spin cycle to prevent stretching. Machine washing may cause the fabric to pile and bobble. The washing detergents will also cause long-term damage to the swim wear fabric.
Do not bleach, soak or iron
Just don’t!
Avoid contact with rough surfaces
The edges of pools are often rough and abrasive, so you do not slip when walking on them. Although it may not feel rough to you it will to your swim wear. The fabric of your swim wear can snag, or pilling may occur when coming into contact with any rough surface. If you want to sit on the pool edge, sit on your towel. Your swim wear won’t like the lane ropes either so don’t slide your body over the top of them, always swim under the ropes. Avoid leaning over the edge of the pool and use the stairs/ladder to exit where possible.
Hot Tubs
Hot tubs are extremely hard on your swimwear, the bromine and extreme temperatures will fade and stretch your swimmers faster than anything else. I suggest wearing old swimwear that you are tired of if you know you are going to be using a hot tub! If you want to wear your regular swimwear, then make sure you wash it as soon as possible after getting out of the hot tub.
Sunscreen
Oil based products such as sun creams and lotions can cause the elasticity in your swimsuit to break down causing your suit to lose its shape.
This chart is based on your childs measurements. Once you know the row your child sits in, that will be their size across our swimwear range.
